Hive Manchester

Hive Manchester is an organisation helping to create more digital making opportunities for young people in Greater Manchester. Digital making means events like code clubs and hackdays, where young people come together to learn and play – making apps, websites, robots, electronic circuits etc. They are mentored by friendly people who have tech skills they want to pass on.

Hive Manchester is part of the Hive Learning Network, a growing constellation of communities around the globe that are championing digital skills and web literacy through connected learning.

The brief

Produce designs for a range of branded products for Hive Manchester including: business cards, exhibition stands, infographics, website and ‘The Hive Playbook’ – a deck of cards intended to aid event organisers plan and stage Hive events.

The solution

Staying within established branding I worked closely with Hive Manchester to ensure continuity of design throughout. The design of the Hive Playbook was prototyped using a variety of methods including post-it notes and plain cards, while groupings and icon requirements were identified.
